Q3 2025:

Branching Out - Laying Foundations Beyond Development

While our prototype took its first steps, we simultaneously planted seeds for the game's future success:

Kickstarter Preparation Begins

🌱 Crafting the perfect pre-launch page:

Finalizing compelling rewards (beta access, exclusive in-game items)

Producing our first proper gameplay teaser

Honing our pitch to capture the farming-strategy hybrid vision

Steam Registration Complete!

🎮 Our store page is now reserved:

First step toward wishlist campaigns

Preparing for future community updates

Officially "on the map" in PC gaming spaces

This dual progress marks our transition from pure development to sharing our vision with the world. The farm isn't just growing - we're building the roads to bring players to it.

Q3 2025:

First Harvest - Our Prototype Takes Shape

A milestone worth celebrating - our first playable prototype is born! While still in its infancy, this primitive version represents a crucial leap from concept to reality.

The Prototype Breakdown:

🕹️ Core mechanics now visually tangible

🌱 Basic systems operational (planting, growing, harvesting cycles)

📐 Foundation laid for future expansion

Why This Matters:

What was once theoretical is now testable. We can:

Experience the turn-based rhythm firsthand

Validate our core gameplay assumptions

It's rough around the edges, missing polish, and full of placeholder art - but like the first vegetables from a new garden, it's incredibly satisfying to finally see something real growing from all our preparation.

Next Steps:

With this vital proof-of-concept established, we're ready to cultivate it into something truly special through iteration and refinement.

Q2 2025:

From Blueprint to Reality - First Fruits of Development

With our game systems meticulously crafted, we transitioned from planning to creation—the moment where spreadsheets and flowcharts began transforming into a living, breathing game.

Coding the Foundations:

💻 First prototype development commenced

Core systems took shape line by line

Initial gameplay loops became testable realities

🎨 Artistic Vision Sprouting:

Early concept drawings arrived from our talented designer

Menus, icons, crops, and environments began gaining their visual identity

The Magic Moment:

There's something special about that first time placeholder assets move in response to your code—when months of theoretical design suddenly exists. It wasn't pretty yet (our programmer art saw to that), but it was alive.

Like the first sprouts after planting season, these rough early versions contained all the promise of what would grow into Back to the Farm.

Q1 2025:

Cultivating the Core - Refining Our Foundations

With our team now fully assembled, we entered an intense period of perfecting the game's DNA. Every mechanic underwent rigorous testing - like pruning a vine to ensure only the strongest branches remain.

Precision Engineering:

🛠️ Finalized Game Mechanics through iterative design

Balanced strategic depth with intuitive farming joy

Stress-tested every system until it felt just right

📈 Perfected Gameplay Flow Charts

Mapped every player decision point

Ensured seamless transitions between planning and action phases

Team Synergy in Full Bloom:

Our carefully selected team has been working in harmony - each specialist tending to their part of the garden while keeping the whole farm thriving.

This quarter was about eliminating the need for future returns to these fundamentals. We wanted roots so strong they could support whatever fruits we'd grow later.

2024:

The Growth Period - Cultivating Our Vision

The seeds of idea finally began their upward climb. This was the year our dream started taking tangible form - we rolled up our sleeves and got to work.

Foundations First:

✍️ Crafting a comprehensive Game Design Document (GDD) - our agricultural bible

⚙️ Defining core game mechanics with painstaking detail

📊 Mapping out the complete game flow - from seed to harvest to market

Building the Dream Team:

We knew this crop needed more hands to tend it. Carefully, we began assembling:

Strategy game veterans for tactical depth

Farming enthusiasts for authentic details

Creative minds to bring our world to life

Like young plants stretching toward the sun, every decision, every new team member added strength to our growing vision. The field was prepared - now the real cultivation could begin.

2023:

The Sprouting Period - Where Ideas Took Root

Armed with fresh determination, we began our quest: Had anyone ever created a true turn-based farm strategy game before?

We scoured markets, analyzed competitors, and played countless titles - only to confirm our original hunch. While farming sims overflowed with casual mechanics, and strategy games leaned toward warfare or cities, no one had ever merged deep tactical gameplay with authentic agricultural management.

This revelation became fertile soil for innovation. Whiteboards filled with:

Core gameplay loops that balanced realism with fun

Prototype mechanics for crop rotation and animal husbandry

Early sketches of our signature "monthly turn" system

Like seedlings pushing through dirt, our vision was finally breaking ground - messy, alive, and full of potential.

2020-2021:

The Fallow Years — Letting the Idea Grow

Like wise farmers who let fields rest, we stepped back. Not out of hesitation, but with purpose.

This was our creative fallow period—time for the idea of Back to the Farm to quietly gather strength beneath the surface. We researched, sketched, and debated. Played every farming and strategy game we could find, asking: "What’s missing?"

Some ideas sprouted quickly. Others needed seasons to mature. But by letting the concept breathe, we ensured what grew next would be worth the wait.

(After all, even the best crops need patience before harvest.)

November 12, 2019:

The Birth of Back to the Farm

It all began with a simple question: "Why isn't there a true farm strategy game?"

As lifelong strategy game fans, we kept searching for that perfect blend - a game about farming that required real tactical thinking. Not another casual simulator where you just tap for coins. Not another management game without depth. Just... nothing quite fit.

That night, over one too many cups of coffee, the spark ignited: "If it doesn't exist... why don't we create it ourselves?"

Back to the Farm wasn't just born that day - it was planted. And like any good crop, it would need time, care, and a whole lot of passion to grow.
